Michael’s Story
What started as a carefree day at the beach quickly turned into an unforgettable moment for Madeline and her grandson Michael. Their joyful afternoon suddenly became a fight for survival. Thanks to swift action and courage, Michael was rescued from drowning. A a powerful reminder of just how unpredictable the water can be – this is Michael’s story.
Anyone Can Drown, No one Should.
In Ireland, the average number of drownings in 2023 and 2024 was 78 per year*, compared to 116 per year between 2018 and 2022. This represents a 33% decrease in average annual drownings. While this progress is encouraging, one life lost is still one too many. Every drowning is a preventable tragedy, and there is more we can do.
