A Message From Our Chairman: Return Of Summer Weeks 2021

Dear Member of Water Safety Ireland

It is a great pleasure to announce that Water Safety Ireland’s Summer Week classes will return for 2021. The last 12 months has been a difficult time for our organisation with no Lifesaving and Swimming being taught. Thankfully, the easing of restrictions nationally means our open water swimming and lifesaving classes will take place once again, while adhering to public health advice to protect our volunteers and pupils.

We realise parents and guardians are eager for their children to learn water safety, swimming and lifesaving techniques, and our local Water Safety Area Committees are working hard to organise classes at a number of locations in their respective regions. To book your child’s place at one of our Summer Week classes, please get in touch with your local Water Safety Area Committee by email.

In advance of classes starting, you can show your children the resources on www.teachpaws.ie which are the perfect introduction to water safety. They love the interactive games, puzzles and exercises, and the skills and knowledge learned can save a life.

As we follow Covid-19 safety guidelines, parents and guardians can be reassured safety protocols will be in place at the Summer Weeks. Organisers will have designated Covid-19 personnel on-site, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Please follow volunteer instructions and let’s all stay protected.

I wish you all an enjoyable summer swim experience and look forward to the resumption of our classes once more.

Yours sincerely

Martin O’Sullivan

Chairman, Water Safety Ireland.
